Love is enduring. Seventy years ago two people said ‘I do.’ Love is forgiving. There is no doubt that people make mistakes. Some can break a marriage. But, forgiveness can heal and reunite. Love determines to make amends.
It is a rare joy to see a couple still in love after time has withered body and mind. She winks at him. He smiles at her. Love shouts in the tiny room.
Winter comes
but the bulbs have stored the sun
and dream of tulips.
My in-laws are 92 years old, living at home and with assistance, my father-in-law cares for his wife of 70 years (they do not count the short time of divorce). Their love and devotion to each other is inspiring.

There is a comfort to know that such relationships exist. My in-laws made it to 54… before one passed. But the other refused any other advances being bound wholly to her husband.
