Across the Abyss

dverse Haibun Monday #7 Posted by So today, I would like you all to write a haibun based on any of the quotes above. Please use the compact haibun form for this: one or two tight paragraphs with one haiku.   Please note that the haiku portion must deal with nature.

“At every moment of our lives, we all have one foot in a fairy tale and the other in the abyss.” ― Paulo Coelho

Stars spill in grand cascades across the arc of heaven sieving dreams, fossilized and ashy, down through the trees in dusty remembrances of once upon a time. Of silky nights and voluptuous days. Of love and innocence, work and play and promises of happy ever after. And Eden sings her summer song . And the sourwood houses the honeycomb. and only life and laughter abide in that fair land where gates of gold and angels bold bar me from its strands.

Ever after dreams
sugarplums and castle turrets
paradise lost

The dreamy prose of your idyllic opening is brought to earth by the last line of your haiku. Interesting.
