Perfectly Imperfect

adashofsunny prompt night Perfection

You aren’t perfect.
Your smile is crooked as though you only
let half of yourself relax. That one tooth
that laps over its partner mars symmetry.
Your eyes behind your wire rims are blue,
just            plain            blue,
not the color of an azure sky, nor sparkling
like a sapphire deep and mysterious.
There’s a scar on your shoulder
and nearly always a bruise on one leg.
You are accident prone, awkward,
in between moments of grace.
Your fingernails are short, unadorned
on busy hands that toil and soothe.
No, my love you aren’t perfect,
but you are perfection to me.

It seems, Debi, that you know the true meaning of ‘perfection.’ I liked the way you described what love really is. Happy New Year, Debi.
