Let’s talk about reading. How do you read? Who? Where? What? Why?
Write about someone you’ve seen reading.
Write about a fictional character–someone you’ve read, and feel as if you know.

Books are someone’s babies

though they be

hardback or paperback

come from a bookstore or an online store ,

rescued from the used bookstore or

collected in libraries, public or private.

The cover can be ornate or plain

decorate a coffee table or displayed

in a glass topped case.

They can inform, entertain, horrify, mystify

teach, enlighten, delight, or quote depressing

statistics and bewildering jargon,

but someone sweated and grunted

every word into being.

Thank you.

  2. I agree with Hannah — a thank you to you for your intriguing and expressive poetics.
“A nice ‘thank-you’ note to the folks that enrich our lives,” she commented.

  3. Misky says:

Splendid, Debi. Just think of all the books never published because someone thought they couldn’t generate enough money to cover the price of paper. So many stories out there never heard!
