Another Silly Poem

Miz Quickly 10: Stealing Away
Steal a line* from a poem or book or a song you’ve heard recently, and make that the first line of your poem.

Welcome to the silly, comforting poem,
(words thrown like dice or the luck of the draw
doubles just as you need or an ace to a royal flush)
oh, the delight as they wriggle and writhe
in perfect symmetry across the page
and if it speaks a language
no other ears can ken
at the very least to me
a comfort it has been.

“Welcome to the silly, comforting poem” line from Flare, by Mary Oliver, in “The Leaf And The Cloud”
