imaginary garden with real toads Artistic Interpretations with Margaret – Washington D.C.
If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world. ― C S Lewis
I had a dream last night
green, lush green, cool
and mountains of mist
to block the sun at noon
and all the faces that I saw
were just as my very own
It seemed so real, a very place
I woke with a nostalgic urge
for a misty place I’ve never seen
and a question I could not purge…
Could it be there is a world
beyond these walls and bars?
Oh we saw exactly the same story within the poor gorilla’s eyes.. I really like the end question there.. wonderful Debi.

Yes, Debi, tell him for me that there is such a world like that, not far away. From your reading your verse, I would like to take him there. This one too:

Oh, the image and your words break my heart. All creatures wish for to have and keep their freedom.

At least they have a community of gorillas. So many animals are alone. But yes, I couldn’t help but feel guilty staring at them – they don’t necessarily look completely comfortable with human attention IMO.

I’m so glad you wrote this Debi…you did such an amazing job with it…your perspective in the voice of the gorilla is perfect…the mist and this other world…goodness, it breaks my heart. This is a topic that I find truly difficult.
